Maddison is a registered Counsellor with PACFA - the leading peak body for psychotherapists in Australia, who specialises in working with clients who have experienced trauma and relationship issues.

Maddison has completed a Bachelor of Counselling and Level 1 Couples Counselling at the Gottman Institute.  Maddison is informed on IFS techniques which are used to support trauma survivors with healing, also known as Parts work.  Maddison also focuses on attachment theory, helping individuals who are influenced by their childhood attachments with their adult relationships and patterns.  Maddison provides couples counselling to support couples with diverse issues including attachment patterns (anxious, avoidant, disorganised).  Maddison's goal is to help couples find harmony and develop secure and loving relationships.  

As a trauma informed counsellor, Maddison understands the impact of trauma on the clients nervous system, physiology, relationships, health and processing, as well as how to guide clients to gentle healing.

Maddison has an eclectic perspective towards healing and combines some models including (but not limited to) person-centered, CBT, emotion focused therapy, behavioural, solution focused, schema therapy, narrative therapy, attachment theory, IFS, and mindfulness-based practices.  

Maddison is passionate about the natural body wisdom of emotions and emotional work.  Maddison is informed on Aware parenting and incorporates techniques and methods into supporting clients who are raising children with behavioural or emotional concerns.  This including helping clients to create secure attachment with their child.  Aware parenting is beneficial for parents who want help fostering deeper connection with their child, want help assisting with problems such as hitting, sleeping and healing from stress or trauma.   Prior to working in Counselling Maddison worked with traumatised children and youth for 6 years and gained a lot of insight into communication techniques, skills for assisting children with complex issues including supporting children after sexual assault, helping children with autism, ADHD, aggression, grief and loss and anxiety.
